Pressed from the bean of the castor plant, also known as Palma Christi, this plant’s medicinal history extends back at least 6000 years in Ancient Egyptian, Greek, and South and East Asian folk medicine. It was used both topically and internally (we only recommend topical use) for a plethora of issues including constipation, detoxification, wound healing, infections, parasites, abscesses, hair growth, inflammation, burns, varicose veins, bronchitis, fever, liver troubles, and more.
Despite concerns over ricin contamination, which is present in the protein-portion of the plant in small amounts, castor oil does not contain ricin.
Peer-reviewed research on castor oil’s health benefits is still minimal, but it validates many of the traditional uses. Castor oil has been studied for its antiviral, pain reducing, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, wound-healing, antioxidant, and hepatoprotective properties, as well as its ability to improve eye inflammation and dryness, and constipation.
We love castor oil on its own, but knew it would be even more powerful with the addition of ozone, and we think you’ll agree!
How to use: Apply topically to area of concern one or more times daily. We also love it for scalp treatments and in castor oil packs. May be energizing due to its ozone content. For external use only. Castor oil may stimulate uterine contractions and its use is contraindicated during pregnancy.
